A family property for many years, the Chateau du Mayne was enlarged by Jean Medeville who bought a large plot of Mayne d'Anice, on the Haut Cérons plateau.
The Mayne vineyards are located on a terrace overlooking the Garonne River on the Cérons' plateau.
The soil is composed of siliceous gravel, with bigger stones in some plots and rests on a chalky subsoil (jurassic). The whole site is very favourable to the development of long vine roots, which draw sustenance from the subsoil.
